George W. Maddox, age 72, died September 6 at his home in Bryan. He was born October 5, 1885. Mr. Maddox had lived most of his life in North Zulch before moving to Bryan about three years ago. Funeral services were held September 8 at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at the Willowhole church. Services were conducted by Rev. J. L. Sylvester of Bryan. Interment was in the Willowhole Cemetery with Riddle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Morris Maddox, John C. Maddox, W.O. Maddox, J.W. Maddox, Jack Crocker, John Lee Crocker, Ellis Folsom and Durbin Berry. Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife, Mrs. Susie Maddox of Bryan; three sons, James E. Maddox and Luther W. Maddox, both of Bryan, and Elton R. Maddox of Dallas; five daughters, Mrs. E.A. Ball, Mrs. Alma Gibson and Mrs. Herbert Wiese of Bryan, Mrs. Press Phallan of Houston and Mrs. Emmett Gustavus of Livingston; three brothers, Lawson Maddox and John Maddox of North Zulch and Lee Maddox of Bryan; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Stewart and Mrs. Charlie Gilmore of Bryan; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
