After Alonzo Mosher's death in 1906, James bought the farm. James married Lillie Masden in 1899. Their children were: Kenneth who married Justine Hartley and lived in Van Buren County; Anna who married Wilbur Watts, lived in Salem; Evelyn, married Wayne Riser; and LaMoyne and Frances, who lived on the family farm until their deaths. The family farm was sold. to a family from Chicago for their retirement home in 2001 after 162 years.

James continued to improve the home with a basement under the original house, and adding two rooms on the north, and modernizing the home. He bought 65 more acres of land. The Mosher's were members of the Salem Congregational Church.
LaMoyne, in partnership with his father raised Poland China Hogs and developed a high producing herd of Holstein cattle. After his father's death in 1958 LaMoyne discontinued raising hogs and dairy cattle. He then raised Simmental cattle.

Both served as director of Glendale School and Trustees of Jackson Township — James for 26 years and LaMoyne for 27 years. LaMoyne served two terms on the County Board Of Education and for a number of years on the local Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee.
