Betty L. Handy, 80, of Flora, died at 7:40 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2009, at her residence.

Born Feb. 13, 1929, in Flora, she was the daughter of Chalmer and Mabel Pullen Allen. On May 22, 1950 she married Charles Richard Handy in Burnettsville, and he survives.


Mrs. Handy was a home-maker and liked to travel.


Surviving with her husband are two sons, R. Keith Handy (wife: Pam) of Lafayette and Terry Handy (wife: Linda) of Flora; a daughter, JoLynda Handy of Flora; a brother, Keith Allen of Flora; and a sister, Marcel-la McWhorter of Canton, IL.


Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, Windy Trent (husband: Todd), Tracy L. Brewer (husband: Jim), Kevin Handy, Chad Handy and Terra James (husband: Shawn), all of Flora; and 8 great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by a brother, Max J. Allen.
