He was a native of Hinton and lived in Union City most of his life. He had been in Vietnam less than a month, serving as a machine gunner with Co. B, 1st Bn., 502nd Inf., 101st Airborne Division. He was graduated from Union City High School in 1967.
Survivors include his wife, Vlema;; two brothers, Bob of Lexington, and Carl of Union City; six sisters, Barbara, Pamela and Karla all of Union City; Mrs. Jimmy Brinkley of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Jimmy Mitchell of Minco and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Armstrong, Union City.
