He lived his entire life near Mooreland in the home where he was born. He was a farmer for 50 years. He also owned and operated Abbott's Garage for 40 years and later Mooreland Auto Parts for 10 years. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Brethren in Christ Church of Mount Pleasant.
He was born June 1, 1919, a son of Charles Edward and Nellie Jeanetta Brown Abbott.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald (wife:Faye) Abbott of New Castle and Doug (wife:Macinda) of Mooreland; three daughters, Holly (husband:David) Poindexter of Losantville, Jane (husband:David) Rains of Spring, Texas and Tracy (husband:Paul) Nunley of Mooreland; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by this wife of 63 years, Wilma L. Davidson Abbott who died Oct. 12, 2004; a son, Darrell H. Abbott; four sisters, Esther McCullough, Edna Boyer, Luva Abbott and Bertha Mae Robbins; two brothers, Russel Abbott and Wilbur S. Abbott.
