Mrs. Woodhouse was a native of Fowler, N.Y., where she was born May 27, 1854, a daughter of the late George Balcom of Redfield and Betsey Jeffers Balcom. After the death of her mother which occurred when she was very young, she lived in the home of her uncle, Nelson Balcom, in Redfield.
Many years ago she came to this village to accept employment and later was married to Mr. Woodhouse. He died July 1, 1928.
Mrs. Woodhouse was a member of the Baptist church, but in Camden was an attendant of the First M. E. church.
Surviving relatives are: Two brothers, Chester W. Balcom of St. Charles, Ill., and Henry Balcom of Rome; a half-sister, Mrs. Almira Wight, and the foster sister, Miss Martha Balcom, Camden; two step-sons, Clinton Woodhouse, Syracuse; Amos Woodhouse, Oneida.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon 1:30 at the funeral home of J. Floyd Smith, Miner avenue, and 2:00 in the M. E. church, with the Rev. W. K. Bradshaw officiating. Singers were R. C. Knapp and Mrs. Ernest Walker, with Mrs. Leona Hubbard at the organ. There were many nice floral tributes. Bearers were A. H. VandeWalker, M. Earl Eastham, A. J. Watkin, Clifford Reymore, John Eastham and Leon W. Ross. Burial was made in Forest Park cemetery.
In attendance from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Amos Woodhouse and daughter Amy Alice, Oneida; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Clark and family, Redfield; James Billington, Florence; Lawrence Woodhouse, Taberg; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Balcom, New York Mills; Henry Balcom and Mrs. William Balcom, Rome.
