WEBSTER CITY-Mary E. Bailey, 88, Webster City, died Thursday at the Hamilton County Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, south of Lehigh. Visitation is at the Foster Funeral Home until the time of service.

Survivors include daughters, Alma Staley, Webster City, Velva Adams, Ames, and Julia Int Veldt, Loveland, Colo; son, Walter Bailey, Webster City; 24 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Margaret Lee, Lehigh, Ilda Ford, McPherson, Kan., Irene Harrah, Eldora.

Mary Ellen Carpenter was born in Story county and was educated in the of Idaho, moving back to Iowa at the age of 17. The family resided in the Lehigh and Otho areas. She married John Bailey in 1919 at Lehigh. They farmed in the Lehigh area until 1941 when they moved to Webster City. Following the death of her husband in 1949 she continued to reside in Webster City.

Mrs. Bailey was a member of the First Baptist Church, Webster City.
