Della Hill was the daughter of Steven Hill and Eliza Jane Wertenberger. She was born in either Pulaski County or Kosciusko County. Her father died when Della was six months old and she grew up on the farm of her step-father, Thomas John Gamble. She attended the one room school that was across the road from the South Pleasant Methodist Church.

On 11 Jun 1903 she married Cain C Weimer. They had seven children: Meriam Ruth, Harry Raymond, Albert John, Mildred Lulu, Ruby May, Mabel Lois and Paul Eugene.

After the family moved to North Manchester in 1914, Della and some of her neighbors started home canning in tins in the Weimer back yard. This developed into the Weimer Canning Factory which became Cain's principal occupation. Della was active in the factory throughout its existence. In 1927 the Weimers purchased 22 acres just west of their home on which they kept dairy cows and Della managed a dairy from her back porch for the next 14 years.

Della suffered a heart attack, was taken to the Wabash County Hospital and died there on 18 Jun 1960.
