Titus attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana and graduated on 4 June 1902 with a Bachelor of Divinity degree. He was ordained in the Methodist Church and was the minister for several churches in northern Indiana. His first charge was at Liberty Mills in Wabash County and his last was at Auburn.
On 12 March 1905 Titus married Maude Alice Strain. They had one child, Virginia Anna Hill, born in 1906.
Titus retired from the ministry in 1922 due to his poor health and bought property in Pleasant Township, Wabash County, Indiana one mile from the Gamble farm. There he died on 26 August 1924 and was buried on 29 August in the South Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery which was on the corner of the Gamble farm.
