Mr. Russell Bird, Jr., 64, of Colorado City, died Wednesday February 6,2002, in
a local hospital. Graveside services were held Friday, February 8, in the Dorn
Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Bird was born March 19, 1937 in Colorado City to Henry R. and Velta Bird.
He married Susan Brown on June 22, 1984 in Grand Prairie. He was retired from
the U.S. Navy and was a retired electronic technician. He was also a member of
the Dorn Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Bird; three daughters, Tina Hughes of Grand
Prairie, Toni Bird of Jacksonville, Florida and Reta Engle of Tennessee; Two
sons, Rick Bird and Ron Bird, both of Dallas; two sisters, Betty Messimer and
Rebecca DelReal, both of Colorado City; one brothers, William Bird of San
Angelo; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, one brother, one sister and a niece.
