HEART ATTACK FATAL
J. E. Batcheller, Relative of Salinans, Dies In Bennington
J. E. Batcheller, who would have been 69 years old June 12, died of a heart attack at 1:30 Saturday morning at his home in Bennington. He had suffered his first stroke three weeks earlier. A retired farmer, he lived most of his life near Tescott and Bennington, moving into Bennington four years ago. The funeral will be held at 2 Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church in Tescott, and burial will be in Bennington Cemetery.
Surviving, in addition to the widow, Mrs. Myrtle Batcheller, are six daughters and five sons, all of whom will be present at the funeral with the exception of Pvt. Roy Batcheller, of Salina, now stationed in India. They are Mrs. Elta Watts and Mrs. Mary Disney, Bennington; Mrs. Verneda Larson, Abilene; Mrs. Opal Howard, Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Alberta Minor, formerly of Salina, now living in Russell; Mrs. Eileen Humpert, Columbia, SC; Eldon Batcheller, Lawrence; Pfc. David Batcheller, stationed at Philadelphia, Pa.; George and Elfus Batcheller, Corpus Christi, Tex. One daughter, Edna, died a year ago. A brother, Ray Batcheller, Newton, and his wife, and two sisters, Mrs. Bert Brown and Mrs. Warren Cline, Minneapolis, also will attend the funeral. There are 13 grandchildren, two of whom are in service, Ens. Guy Disney, pilot in the south Pacific, and Gene Batcheller, USN, now reported missing in action.
