Tuesday, April 29, 1958
John Lane Tridle, 83, former city marshal of Weir, died at 8 o'clock last night at Mt. Carmel hospital in Pittsburg. Mr. Tridle had been a resident of Weir and McCune for more than 50 years. He had been in failing health for some time and in the hospital for about two weeks.
Born Sept. 27, 1874, in Decatur, Ill., son of Aaron Yinger Tridle and Cleora Ellenor Edgecomb Tridle. He married Miss Maggie Darland, daughter of Abraham and Mary Ann Beal Darland, Jan. 6, 1902, in Girard. He had formerly been section foreman for the Frisco railroad out of McCune for about 23 years. He then was employed by the Kansas Gas and Electric Company at Service. Following that he was city marshal in Weir until he retired eight years ago. He was preceded in death by sons Cecil, who died in an auto accident in Picher, Oklahoma and three year old Joe Yinger Tridle and daughter Mary Maxine Tridle, both who died from diphtheria as toddlers.
Survivors include the widow of the home; three sons, Harry TridIe, Lloyd Tridle and Roy Tridle, all of McCune; three daughters, Mrs. Lola Marie (Earl) Foster and Mrs. Elsie (Ted) Cockerell, both of McCune, and Mrs. Hazel (Tony) Zacarello, Pittsburg; one brother, Grove Tridle, Pittsburg; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Shigley funeral home in McCune. Interment will be in the McCune cemetery. Transcribed From the Columbus, KS Modern Light, Thurs. May 1, 1958.
