The Correctionville News, 29 May 1947, page 1: Funeral services were held for Mrs. Jennie Ashmore were held at 2:00 Wednesday at the Evangelical Church. Rev. Arthur Dyson, of the Methodist Church, conducted the services. Mrs. Don Michaelson sang "Good Night Here and Good Morning Up There", "The Old Rugged Cross", and "Beautiful Garden of Prayer", accompanied by Mrs. Paul Anderson. Mrs. R.L. Madison and Miss Bethel Madison cared for the flowers and R.L. Madison arranged cars. Pallbearers included Dick Galvin, Fred Holcomb, Merlin Heath, Andrew Trimble and Henry Camarigg. Burial was in the Correctionville Cemetery under direction of Wilson-Hull funeral home. Mrs. Jennie Ashmore, age 77, a resident of Woodbury County for sixty-six years, passed away at her home in Correctionville on May 26 after an illness of over six years. Mrs. Ashmore was born April 6, 1870, at Spring Green, Wisconsin, the youngest of seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Coon. On December 31, 1887, she was united in marriage to Carroll Omar Ashmore. To this union, five children were born, Clifford, Howard, and Mrs. Ruth Lahann of Correctionville, Fred and Mrs. Bessie Lahann of Cushing. Her husband preceded her in death in 1944. Survivors include five children, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one brother, John Coon, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Worthan, both of Correctionville. She was converted in 1894 and has been a member of the Evangelical Church for fifty-three years. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and a friend in need at all times.
