John Halstead, 74, Retired Steelworker
Tuesday services are set for John L. Halstead, 74, of Hookstown RD1, who died Saturday, Feb. 25, 1989, at home following a brief illness. He was born in Chester May 31, 1914, a son of the late Vernard Halstead and Lottie Allison Halstead. Mr. Halstead was a retired employee of the former Crucible Steel Co., and was a member of United Steelworkers of America Local 1212. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Gilbert Halstead, at home; a son, John V. Halstead of East Liverpool; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Cline of Friendly, W. Va.; and Mrs. Harry (Patricia) Bradley of Smithville, W. Va.; two brothers, Clarence "Buck" Halstead of Georgetown and Thomas Halstead of Pekin, ILL.; six sisters, Grace Campbell, Thelma Gray and Isabel St. Clair of Newell, and Mary Lou Jones of New Cumberland, Alice Jones and Shirley Adkins of Salineville; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The services are to be held at 1 p.m. at the Welch Funeral Home. Burial is to be in Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
