After the death in 1829 of Thomas Tuggle, Nancy married a second time to Edward Carroll Sweatt, Sr. (1786-1854) in Wilson County, Tennessee in 1831. He had 7 living children by Mary Polly Lash when he married Nancy Bradford Tuggle. Together they had 7 children. They were:

Nancy and Edward came to Texas between 1850 - 1854 and brought most, if not all of their living children. Edward was a Minister of the Christian Church. He died in 1854 and Nancy continued to care for her children, both natural and adopted. A dramatic feat in that day.
