Simon Redmon "Bud" Keck was born Sept. 10, 1859 Madison Co, AR died June 21, 1909 Madison Co, AR. He married Margaret Jane "Maggie" Duncan, daughter of William B. Duncan and Margaret Jane Jones of Boston, Madison Co, AR. William B. Duncan is bur. Ft. Scott, KS National Cem. Margaret Jane (Jones) Duncan is buried Boston Cem, Madison Co, AR. Simon homesteaded land on a good hilltop farm about midway between Witter and Pettigrew just above War Eagle Creek and a short distance from the Cove School with the Cove Cemetery opposite it. Simon was a farmer. His first two story house burned down and his boys helped build it back, a two story plain house with a porch running across the front. He had a large oak barn and that was where he stored his loose hay for the cattle. They mostly grew what they ate but the wild game was plentiful. The older boys went to Huntsville to finish their education. Their son Isaac Harrison "Ike" Keck lived in the house after Simon and Margaret died. Ike married Martha Petree. They had one child. They sold the farm to a nephew who sold it. The two story house burned down and the farm is no longer accessible by the public. The main road goes around the base of the mountain and the land has been developed. Ike and Martha were buried in Texas. Bud and Maggie's son Daniel Huston Keck lived on the next farm on the hill adjoining Ike's. His daughter Leota Keck was a school teacher in Wichita, KS and Pettigrew, AR and was interested in the Keck history. She is now deceased. Daughter Della Keck md Arthur McDonald Shrum and they lived in Madison Co, AR. Son Pearl Bar Keck md Myrtle Haynes and they lived out by Red Star on the farm, no children. Son William Fletcher Keck, called Fletcher md 1, Dona Elizabeth Amanda Ogden dau of David F. and Lucinda Muncy Ogden, buried Brashears and Fletcher is buried by her. They had one daughter who wrote the obit for Margaret Jane (Duncan) Keck, wife of Simon Redmon Keck. Fletcher md 2 Faye Yount Mcmillin, no children. They lived Westville, OK. Updated Oct 2010
