Bernadette Louise McLaughlin, 93, of Aurora, Ohio, formerly of New Kensington, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, in Cleveland. She was born Oct. 13, 1915, in West Mifflin, a daughter of the late John F. and Mary C. (Manns) Schweitzer, was a 1934 graduate of Duquesne High School and had been a resident of New Kensington since 1937. She was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, a charter member of the Christian Mothers Confraternity, Legion of Mary Auxiliary, Citizens General Hospital Auxiliary and Alle-Kiski Senior Citizens Center, all of New Kensington. Survivors include her children, Carol Ann (Scott) Kenney, of Aurora, and Dan (Sharon) McLaughlin, of Auburn, N.Y.; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Schweitzer, of Orange City, Fla.; and brother-in-law, I. Scott McLaughlin, of Dania, Fla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira S. McLaughlin Jr., on June 13, 1988; four brothers; and four sisters. A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 31 in Cleveland. Private burial was in Plum Creek Cemetery.
