Mary “Mollie” Frances Ashcraft Guin was affectionately known by family members as “Big Granny” and she lived across the road from Mount Zion Baptist Church in the New Hope community of Lowndes County, Mississippi. Until their respective deaths, two of her children, Leva May Guin and Luerd Sidney Guin (both of whom never married) lived with her.
