Harry LeRoy Skovlund was born on July 3, 1919, in South Dakota, his father, Gustaf, was 32 and his mother, Tedora, was 28. He had five brothers and five sisters. He died on January 3, 1944, at the age of 24. Harry died on the battlefield of Italy during World War II. Harry was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously.
