All family information simply tells us that Peter was born in Voss, there are several villages that have Voss in the name, Voss Herad was chosen until we have more acurate information.

The following is in Jennie Anderson Oliver's handwriting:
They lived in Bergsdalen in Evanger Counter, now Voss County about 70 miles inland from Bergen. Two of Grandpa Andrews Askyelsons (?) brothers came to U.S. one in 1854 and one in 1856. Taken from church records in Mountain Valley called Bergadalen. Which is now Voss County. Descendents and members of this family have lived in this valley for several centuries. Grandpa and Grandma Anderson came to North Preston, Dakota Territory from Big Grove or Lisbon, Illinois about 1879 (Note: The 1880 census indicates Peter was still in Big Grove, so the move was probably after June 1880). First deed - original homestead on this quarter reads 1881 and they would have had to live there 2 years to get deed on land. We assume they arrived in 1879. A cousin Alfred A Brekke came to U.S. and is said to live in Brooklyn, N.Y., has 5 children, youngest born in 1925." (end Jennie Oliver's notes)

The 1880 census has Peter B. Anderson living in Big Grove, Kendall Co., IL. The census indicates that he is married, which is correct as our records have their marriage year as 1879, but Ingeborg is not shown with him. He is a farm hand working for a John R Nelson. Also by this time children, Anna & Andrew have been born. There is a possibility that this Peter B Anderson is not our Peter, but all the data seems to confirm that he is Andrew Anderson's father.
In 1900, Andrew 21, Lizzie 11, and Leander 7, are at home. This census indicates that Andrew was born in Illinois so we assume that Anna was born there as well. In 1910 they are living in Badger tswp, Kingsbury Co., SD. The only children still with them are Lizze (21) and Oleander (17). By 1920 Peter has died (1912) and Ingeborg is living with Lizze & her husband Albert Johnson. Ingeborg did not pass away until 1934, however we have not been able to find her in the 1930 census.

There is conflicting info regarding Peter's death date. 1911 or 1912. Jennie Anderson Oliver said her mother told her she was 9 months old when her grandfather died. That would make the year 1911. However we have photos of the tombstone and the date is 1912. Jennie's notes indicate that the East Cemetery may have been called Hinderly Cemetery.

Peter & Ingeborge also raised Sarah Johnson, daughter of Henry & Corrie Johnson (no reason stated). The note indicating the above was followed by "Hegbloom", Perhaps that means Sarah married a Hegbloom.
