The funeral for Tressa Haderlie was held Monday in the chapel. Among those from out of the valley attending the funeral were; Mr and Mrs Lester Kennington of North Salt Lake Utah; Mr and Mrs Lloyd Kennington of Paris, Idaho; Mr and Mrs J.W. Kennington of Logan, Utah; Mr and Mrs Conway Wilkes of Aurora, Utah; Rita Milkes, Kenneth, Ross Wilkes, Cleo Barker, Melvin and Glade Wilkes of Utah; Mr and Mrs Albert Millward of Pocatello; Mr and Mrs John McCombs and son Gordon of Clifton, Idaho; mr and Mrs Merlin Nelson of Salt Lake City; Mrs Mable Lehmberg of Lehi, Utah; Mr and Mrs Bill Buckley and Ernest Haderlie of Cokeville; Clifford M. Haderlie of Logan; Mr and Mrs Paul Haderlie and family of Provo, Utah; Dick Haderlie, Mr and Mrs Byron Haderlie and Mr and Mrs Ralph Coy of Idaho Falls; Conn J. Rich of Pingree, Idaho; Mr nad Mrs Thomas Perkins, Mrs Lella Dana, Mrs Geoeva Ivie, Robert and Richard Dana of Logan; Mr and Mrs Fern Perkins of Richmond, Utah; Mr and Mrs George Kennington and Mr and Mrs Ira Kennington of Preston Idaho; Bp and Mrs DeVere McAlister and Frances Fehrenbacker of Logan.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb 18, at 1 p.m. in the Thayne Ward LDS Chapel for Tressa Elizabeth Kennington Haderlie, 54, who died Feb 14 at 12:10 a.m. of Cerebral hemorrhage in a Salt Lake City hospital. Counselor Boyd Simpson conducted. Burial was in the Thayne Cemetery.
She was born April 26, 1906 at Auburn, Wyo., to Joseph Hyrum Kennington and Sarah Jane Walton, both deceased. She lived in Pocatello, Idaho for several years when she was very young and spent the remainder of her girlhood in Auburn, where she attended elementary school. She attended the Star Valley High School at Afton. She worked while young as a household worker for hire at $3.00 per week.
She married Oliver Romeo Haderlie Nov 3, 1926 in the Logan LDS Temple.
A devoted worker for the LDS Church, Tressa served in many church positions in all the auxiliaries. she was a theology teacher, visiting teacher and counselor in the Relief Society; a Sunday School teacher, primary teacher, primary president, YWMIA president, served in the stake mission, was a member and past president of the Silver Star Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, And one other most important church callings was that of being a bishop's wife for a number of years.
She was awarded a Relief Society service pin; and a primary 5-year service certificate.
As each of her children who fulfilled LDS missions was released, she and her husband would meet them in their mission area and return home with them.
In recent years her family members have established themselves in Utah, Wyoming and Montana. As a result she has spent much time traveling to visit with them and help them when they needed help.
She was always completely honest with herself and others. She was most thoughtful of others, especially in times of sorrow and distress.
She is survived by her husband, Oliver R. Haderlie, of Thayne; the following sons and daughters, Van K. Glasgow, Mont.; Mrs Carl (Sybil) Warnock, Sigurd, Utah; Ralph K. Thayne; Mrs vernal (VaLoy) Anderson, Kanesville, Utah; Milton K., and Marilyn, Thayne; 20 grandchildren the following brothers and sisters, Mrs Conway (Latidds) Wilkes, Aurora, Utah; Joseph W. Kennington, Logan Utah; Mrs John (Alta) McCombs, Clifton, Idaho; Mrs Albert (Medra) Millward, Pocatello, Idaho; Mrs Merlin (Elda) Nelson, Salt Lake City, Utah; Lloyd C. Kennington, Paris, Idaho; and Lester G. Kennington, North Salt Lake Utah.
One son, Brent K. died shortly after birth and her father, mother and two brothers, Hyrum A. and Arthur W. preceded her in death.
A granddaughter, JoNell Haderlie age 10 wrote this letter to her grandmother the day before she died;
I know you may be frowning,
But not for very long.
Soon you will be smiling.
And nothing will be wrong.
I know that God will watch you
And you will hear his call;
For you have taught us all so well
He's watching over all.
