Jefferson City Post Tribune (MO) - Page 5 - January 17, 1969:

Mrs. Jennie Markway, 73, of 920 Winston Drive, wife of former Cole County Sheriff Ben S. Markway, died at 9:02 p.m., Thursday, at a Jefferson City hospital. Mrs. Markway had been in ill health for several years.

A native of Wardsville in rural Cole County, Mrs. Markway was born Oct. 11, 1895, the daughter of Joseph B. and Jennie Stockman Eveler. On Nov. 27, 1917, at Wardsville, she was married to Mr. Markway, who survives.

Other survivors include: One son, LeRoy Markway, Metairia, La.; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Rosemary) Kelpe, Baton Rouge, La.; and six grandchildren. Two children preceded her in death, including one who died in the military service.

Mrs. Markway was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Ann's Sodality of that parish, and the Legion of Mary. She was also a member of Glennon Circle No. 322, Daughters of Isabella, and the American War Mothers.

The Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at the Dulle Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Gerold Kaiser will officiate with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.
