Born near Greensboro, NC; though her grave stone says 1821, her official death record says she was 87; so she would have been 88 the coming July. 1970 minus 88 = 1819. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Osborne Lamar. She met and married George Preston Layton (of New Jersey), a tanner, in Liberty, Union County, Indiana in 1838. They had 9 children.
