As was often the case with the family and descendants of William Riley Seaboalt (1831-1905) the surname Seaboalt has been misspelled as Seabolt on the Geroge Dennis Seaboalt tombstone. The spelling "Seabolt" is surname of German origins. However, the immigrant ancestor of this family was not a Seabolt but rather Seyboldt. George Dennis's great-grandfather was born and baptisec in Berks County, PA as Johaimer Sebold. As he and his descendants migrated across the American frontier in the 1800's, census takers and county clerks misspelled the name as Seabolt. William Riley Seaboalt knew that his name was not spelled that way but was not sure exactly how to spell it, so he merely inserted the second "a" and let is go at that.

We have no known photo of George Dennis, so we are including a photo of his parents on the right.
