SOLDIER -- Dorothy M. Hill, 79, Soldier, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at a rest home in Sabetha.

She was born Aug. 4, 1919, northeast of Goff, to Clinton A. and Lena Hanna Longberg. She graduated from Soldier High School in 1937. She spent many years in the Goff community before she moved to Soldier in 1996.

She was a member of the New Idea Club in Bancroft. She and Edward Hill were married Dec. 26, 1941, in Oneida. He survives. A grandson, Brandon Lee Hill, preceded her in death.

Other survivors include sons, Maurice "Rusty" Hill, Soldier, and Francis "Stub" Hill, Beaumont, Texas; a daughter, Judy Cooper, Galva; brothers, Harry "Dutch" Longberg, Council Grove, and Ray "Pat" Longberg and Richard Gale "Ben" Longberg, both in Sabetha; sisters, Della Antes, Effingham, Mildred Bauman, Bern, and Gladys Mary Renyer, Auburn; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildlren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton.

Burial will be in Soldier Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Manor, 66534.
