Effingham — Mass of Christian Burial for Della M. Antes, 94, Atchison, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann's Parish Center in Effingham. Burial will follow in St. Benedict's Cemetery, Bendena.
Mrs. Antes died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at the Atchison hospital.
She was born Oct. 20, 1914, near Goff, the daughter of Clinton A. and Lena B. Hanna Longberg. She graduated from Soldier High School.
She worked for several years before marriage by providing in-home health care and teaching to area families near the Holton and Soldier communities. She later helped her husband on the farm.
Mrs. Antes was a member of the Farmington Unit, the Nortonville St. Joseph's Altar Society, and the St. Ann's Church congregation in Effingham. She enjoyed sewing, flowers, vegetable gardening, raising her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
She married John E. Antes on Aug. 17, 1939, in Holton. He preceded her in death May 22, 1994. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Kempin and Teresa Antes, and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include seven sons, Robert and wife Sharon, Grain Valley, Mo., Paul, Overland Park, Carl and wife Shirley, Emporia, Bernard and wife Deborah, McLouth, Leroy and wife Sheila, Atchison, and Leo and wife Sharon and Raymond and wife LeeAnn, all of Olathe; two daughters, Katherine McLoughlin and husband Bob, Lenexa, and Ann Boles and husband David, Madison; a brother Richard "Ben" Longberg, Wichita; two sisters, Gladys Mary Renyer, Auburn, and Mildred Bauman, Seneca; 29 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.
Two more great-grandchildren are expected in 2009.
