OPELIKA, AL -- Mrs. Sarah Jewell Harmon Foster, 93, of Opelika died Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Bethany House in Auburn, AL.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. (EST) Monday, March 31, 2003 at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley, AL with Rev. Steve York officiating. Burial followed in LaFayette City Cemetery.
Mrs. Foster is survived by her daughter, Janice (Cook) Sikes of Cusseta, AL; her sister, Virginia Spring of Davis, CA; and two grandchildren, Jason (Leann) Sikes of Valley, AL and Julie Sikes of Cusseta, AL.
Born May 19, 1909 in Chambers County, AL, Mrs. Foster was a graduate of Jacksonville State Teachers College and had taught in schools in the Birmingham and Chambers County areas. She retired from West Point Stevens after 30 years of devoted service. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. Mrs. Foster was a member of Fairfax First Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Ola Lee Blanks Harmon and Woodson L. Harmon.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fairfax First Baptist Church or to Bethany House in her memory.
