Mrs. Lillie Kirkham Succumbs in Hospital
PONCA CITY. March 1 - Mrs. Lillie Kirkham, 44, mother of Mrs. Lloyd Sims of this city, died at 10:35 O'clock Monday morning in the Ponca City hospital where she had been a patient since December 27. She had been ill since last July.
Mrs. Kirkham came to Ponca City from Stillwater three years ago and has been making her home at 319 South Second street.
Besides Mrs. Sims, she is survived by two other daughters, Ruby Rice, 13, Ruth Rice, 12, and Darrell Kirkham 2 1/2, all of the home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Christian church, with the Rev O. L. Shelton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery under the direction of the Hill funeral home.

Lela Lillian Ward married Henry Johnson in Stephens County, Oklahoma on December 10, 1910. They had one daughter, Hester. Lela had another child who died before November 16, 1919. In 1916, Lela married George W. Aslin; the couple divorced the following year.

Lela next married I. B. "Jack" Rice on February 28, 1920, in Jack County, Texas. They had three daughters: Lois, Ruby and Ruth. Lois was given up for adoption shortly after birth.

On February 20, 1933, Lela marrried William E. Kirkham in Stillwater, OK. They had one child, Billy Darrell Kirkham. After Lela's death in 1937, Darrell was adopted and raised by a couple Lela was friends with.
