BALDWYN – Orvil F. Peters, 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, at the Community Hospice House in Verona after a long illness. He was a retired farmer. He worked in a CC Camp before World War II. He served in World War II as an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and a Scoutmaster. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Reynolds and Bro. Jeff Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery with military honors.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Sandlin of Baldwyn and Tersa Hall (Fred) of Saltillo; six sons, Danny Peters (Virginia) of Unity, Gary Peters (Nell), Ricky Peters (Joyce) of Baldwyn, Lanny Peters (Janice) of Marietta, Kenny Peters (Phylis) and Trent Peters (Jean) of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Jason Peters (Brandi), Nathan Peters, Barry Peters, Tina Hopkins (Jason), Tracy Peters (Loretta), Adam Peters (Deisha), Leah Holt (Jeffery), Jennifer Dees (Steven), Joe Peters, Matthew Sandlin (Diane), Jake Sandlin, Dalton Hall, Dillon Hall, Jonathan Peters and Charles Peters; stepgrandchildren, Vickie Baker (Marty) and Dana Blassingame; great-grandchildren, Haley Sandlin, Hannah Sandlin, Lacy Peters, Maverick Peters, Harley Peters, Brook Peters, Jaden Peters, Hunter Dees, Ethan Dees, Tiffany Dees, Keith Hopkins and Caleb Peters; stepgreat-grandchildren, Andy Baker, Courtney Daniels, Anna Mink, Devin Terry and Abbie Blassingame.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Peters; two sisters, Eva Blassingame and Chestine Christian; a brother, Tulon Peters; two half brothers, Charlie and John Peters; a half sister, Vera Towery; and his parents, Charles Henry Peters and Annie Harkey.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
