Louis Seelye Marshall, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall, was born in Aurelius, Ingham County, Mich. March 13, 1870 on the farm where he was living at the time of his death. He attended the rural school and Mason High School.

He was married Jan. 3, 1894 to Inez May Van Horn. To this union were born 4 children, May Louise, Louis Paul, J. Vance and Don Seelye. All are living except J. Vance, who was killed in a railroad accident in 1923. He also leaves a mother, 2 brothers, John Jay and Benjamin Alonzo and 5 grandchildren. His only sister Hazel Anna died May 1, 1908, leaving the twins Gerald and Irene Davison. His father passed away Dec. 16, 1906.

Soon after his marriage, Louis purchased a farm near Leslie where he lived until 2 years ago when he moved to the old homestead, leaving the big farm in charge of his son Paul.

For many years Louis had been interested in breeding of Brown Swiss cattle and was a member of the Executive Board of the National Brown Swiss Cattle Breeder's Association; and was also president of the Michigan Brown Swiss Association for many years, beginning at the time of its organization and extending until the present year when he retired.

He passed on Saturday morning, June 16, aged 58 years.

Funeral service was held from his home June 19.
