Obituary RACHEL ROGERS born in Louisville, Kentucky July 16, 1821, died June 19, 1901, age 79 years, 11 months, 3 days. When a small child she removed with her parents to Indiana where she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage to Peter Graybeal, April 20, 1839. After forty years of happy companionship the husband was called to the spirit land in November, 1879. She was the mother of nine children, seven of whom are left to mourn their loss. They are: John Graybeal, of Elwell, Mrs Sarah Davis, of Baxter, Mrs. Nancy Holland, of Bondurant, Mrs. Margarette Carpenter and Mrs. Eliza Tolls, of Elkhart, Mrs. Hattie Miller and Mrs. Catherine Hoovn, of Des Moines.

When quite young and while still living in La Port County, Indiana she was converted and united with the Christian church, having ever lived a consistent Christian life. All who knew her loved her for her goodness and uprightness.

The funeral was held from the Byers chapel, Friday June 21st, conducted by Rev. I.M.T. Cory, after which a large concourse of friends followed the remains to the last resting place in Ryan cemetery. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the sorrowing relatives in this their hour of bereavement.
