Martha Leota Davenport was born October 27, 1873, in Cowley County, Kansas, departed this life October 7, 1962, in Oklahoma City, Okklahoma. During her girlhood she lived with her family in and around Winfield and Arkansas City, Kansas. At the age of sixteen she was converted and joined the Free Methodist Church at Arkansas City. She was united in marriage with Emory Otis Davenport on June 10, 1897, and moved to Oklahoma. Their first home was near Deer Creek, Oklahoma. He entered the active ministry of the church in 1904 and most of the time from then until his death in 1937 her life centered in various parsonages over the state of Oklahoma. To their union were born four sons and two daughters. The eldest son, Lloyd, passed away in January, 1947; those remaining to mourn her passing are - daughters Velma Humphrey and Lois Davenport, Oklahoma City, sons - Troy of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Ray of Inman, Kansas, and Eldon of Billings, Montana; also seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She was a devoted wife and mother and a consecrated Christian, always interested in the work of her church.
