John Wolf, one of the best known farmers in Cumberland county (sic), died at his home in Middlesex township at 3:20 this morning. He had been seriously ill since Tuesday a week ago. Mr. Wolf was born 82 years ago on the farm on which he died, July 6, 1834, the son of David and Anna (Cornman) Wolf. On January 8, 1857 he married Margaretta Wert, who died in 1862. To this union one child was born, Joseph P. Wolf, who died at the age of ten years. On November 10, 1864 he married Catherine Wetzel. After his second marriage he farmed fo (sic) rthree (sic) years in Silver Spring township, then moved to his father's farm in West Pennsboro where he spent four years. In 1873 he bought the old homestead. He was a prominent member for many years of Carlisle Springs Reformed church (sic) and of Silver Spring Lodge 598, Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In politics Mr. Wolf was a democrat and was prominent in the councils of his party. For some years he was the assessor of his township and a school director. He was also well known as the representative of a binder twine firm and was one of the most successful salesman the firm employed. He was a kind and loving husband and father, faithful church man, splendid farmer and had a host of friends. Surviving are his aged wife, a few years his senior and the following children: Harvey, of South Middleton, Raymond and Mrs. William Brindle, of North Middeton (sic); Mrs. Sharp Wagner, of Carlisle Springs, formerly of Carlisle; Charles and Mrs. Frank Henry at home. Former County Register, Joseph Wolf, of Middlesex and William Wolf, of Plattsburg, Mo., are brothers and Mrs. Martin Duey, of Chester, Nebraska, is a sister. Funeral services will be held at the house at ten o'clock Wednesday morning, interment in the Carlisle Springs church cemetery.

WOLF FUNERAL

Revs. C.P. Kehl and Ira F. Brame officiated at the funeral of John Wolf in Middlesex today. The pallbearers were J. Fair, Levi Hertzler, John Handshew, Mervin Zeigler, John Hess and George Martin.
