Charles Harris Lilly, son of W. R. and Florence [Kingsley] Lilly, was born in a farm home southwest of Roxbury on August 11, 1896. He died on August 29th, 1976, having observed his 80th birthday.

Charles married Margaret Tolle, of Roxbury on June 2nd, 1920. They continued to live in the Roxbury community until 1934, when they and their children moved to Mentor, where Charles continued to live until his death.

Charles was a rural mail carrier for 45 years, working for the U.S. Post Office Department until his retirement in 1963.

Until his death, Charles Lilly was a active member of the Mentor United Methodist Church, working in any capacity where he might be needed. He was a veteran of World War I, a director of the Roxbury State Bank, and a member of the Rural Mail Carrier's Association. During his lifetime a special interest of his was a farm he owned near Roxbury.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Margaret; four sons, Keith, Kendall, and Gerald of Mentor, Dennis of Salina; two daughters, Virginia Major of Mentor, and Janice Miller of Ames, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Laveda Lathrop of Woodland Park, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Edith Blessing of Inman, and Mrs. Laura Karber of Roxbury.
