They moved to Washington Co. Ark. in 1861, to Sebastian Co., near Jenny Lind, Ark. in 1869. He joined the Presbyterian Church at the age of 16, and was a ruling elder most of the rest of his life. Was a major in the Blackhawk War. According to family tradition, this family was moving from Missouri to Arkansas and were at Pea Ridge, Ark. at the time when that Civil War battle was fought, March 7, 1862.
