"John Boyd Caldwell died at his home on South Franklin street Thursday morning, aged 97 years. He was born in Bourbon county, Kentucky, February 28, 1822, and came to Missouri with his parents when four years old. The family settled in Callaway county, where the deceased lived until 1892, when he moved to Kirksville. He was married to Miss Sallie Ann Howe and to this union eight daughters were born, all of whom are living. Besides his wife, the surviving daughters are: Mrs. J. A. Bushnell of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Lulu Caldwell Davis and Misses Margaret, Eta, May and Dola Caldwell of Kirksville; and Mrs. Grant Corbin of Altus, Okla. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Presbyterian church and was a devout Christian. When 92 years of age, he was made an elder in the Presbyterian church at Kirksville. He was a member of Adair Lodge No. 366, AF&AM, and had been a Mason 55 years. The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon." The Kirksville Graphic (Kirksville, Missouri), April 25, 1919
