Irene E. Wiggs Baker, age 87, of Richmond, died Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at Heritage Park Care and Rehabilitation in Bradenton Florida, from complications of diabetes. Irene was born May 24, 1921 in Wayne County, Indiana to Carl B. and Lillian A. Weiss, Toschlog. She spent her formable years on the Fountain City, family farm and attended the local school. She resided in Richmond, while raising her children and was a member of St Andrew Catholic Church. Irene retired from Alcoa with many years of service. She and her husband lived in Greenville, Ohio until they moved to Bradenton Florida. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Princess of the White Shrine.

Survivors include her husband, Farrell Baker of Bradenton, Florida; three daughters, Dorothy Smoker (Duane), Bobbie LaFuze (Jim) of Centerville, and Beverly Wright (Morgan) of Yuma Arizona; three sons, Ron Wiggs (Laura), Mike Wiggs (Linda) of Indianapolis, and Roger Wiggs of Richmond. Irene had many enjoyable years with her fifteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Irene is also survived by three stepchildren, Wayne Baker (Nancy), Sherry Echeman (Mark) , and Linda Nixon (Steve) all of Greenville, Ohio. She also leaves two sisters, Mildred McMichael of Springfield, Ohio and Thelma Matthews of Richmond; two brothers, Kenneth Toschlog and Lorin Toschlog of Richmond; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lillian Toschlog; first husband and father of the children, Robert C. Wiggs, second husband Joseph Wilson; and brother Verlin Toschlog.

Visitation for Irene E. Baker will be 3 to 7pm Sunday, January 25, 2009, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, Indiana. Short prayer will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, January 26, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home followed by funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St Andrew Catholic Church, 235 South 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. Burial will be in St Andrew Cemetery.
