John Pearce is my Great x3 Grandpa's youngest brother. John was the youngest of 12 children born to Daniel and Ann Nancy (Ankers)Pearce.
John was born 1802(1803)in Hampshire County, Virginia (What is now West Virginia)Then with his family he moved to Champaign County, Ohio. After his fathers passing in 1830 he followed his brothers and sister to Kendall County IL. Where he lived till the 1840's. His Mom passing away in 1840 and was buried on John's farm. John and his family for a while lived in Missouri where he lost his wife Nancy (Conroy)Pearce. John married Mary Ann Jeffries, in 1848.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Daniel in Ohio and his mother Ann Nancy in IL.
John had 17 children. His daughters were Jemima Ann, Mary Ann, Lucinda, Sarah, Rachael, Nancy T., Tabitha Ellen, May F., Martha, and Elizabeth. John's sons were Merritt (Mel for short), Fletcher, Edward, John (Jack for short), and Stephen.

From the Pearce Book..."John died May 12, 1870 and was buried in a cemetery in Mills County, Iowa, the plot, 40 by 50 feet, having been donated from his homestead for burial purposes, but as no papers were executed, the graves of many of those old pioneers are in danger of obliteration, but five headstones, now (1937) remain standing."
