Funeral services for J. D. Cox, 74, who died at his home in the Beech Creek Community Wednesday, August 1, were held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Guin Cemetery under direction of Southern Funeral Home. The Rev. Aaron Gorham and Rev. E. B. Barton officiated.

Survivors are four sons, Chester Cox, Winnfield, James L., of Lubbock, Texas, J. C. and J. W. of Tullos; four daughters, Mrs. W. P. Hallmark, Winnfield, Mrs. Ray Butler, Gibsland, Mrs. Bessie Couch, Tullos, and Mrs. Annie Butler, Taylor, La.; 34 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Mr. Cox didn't appear in his family's 1880 census record. His WWI draft registration card reported his DOB as Feb. 29, 1879. The 1900 census gave his birth mo./yr. as Mar. 1885. The above date & middle name are from the Cox family bible.
