"R.A. [Ira] VAN GORDEN DIES SUDDENLY.
Aged Resident of Cambria Passes Away From Old Age This Afternoon.

Cambria, Dec. 13. - R. A. Van Gorden, who has lived in Cambria since 1856, died at 2:30 this afternoon from weakness brought on by old age. He was 83 years old. Seven sons and one daughter survive him - Jerome, G.E., Ira, Sherman, Earl and Vine Van Gorden and Sarah Van Gorden. Burial [will] probably take place Monday [December 15]. R.A. Van Gorden came to California in 1846. He had been ill but a few days."
