"SHERMAN VAN GORDEN.
LOCAL RESIDENT 33 YEARS DIES.
Sherman Van Gorden, a resident of Palo Alto for the last 33 years, died yesterday at the Palo Alto Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. [Van] Gorden's home was at 4261 El Camino Real. He was born in Cambria 74 years ago.
A son, Emery S. Van Gorden, recently discharged member of the Army Air Corps, survives him. Mrs. Van Gorden died in 1943, while their son was still a prisoner following a plane crash in Italian territory. Mr. Van Gorden also leaves a sister, Mrs. Ide Murray of Los Angeles, and a brother, Earl Van Gorden of Cambria.
Funeral services will be held Saturday [March 16] at 2 o'clock at the Tinney Funeral Home. The Rev. Everett Clay Thomson will be in charge." END
