Walter C. Burke, 90, of Monticello died May 4, 1991 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello. Funeral services were held May 7 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with burial in Monticello cemetery.

Mr. Burke was born January 7, 1901 at Sullivan, s/o John and Lillian MacElroy Burke. He married Norma Helen Thomas (1918-1990) in 1944. She died October 2, 1990. Surviving are six sons: Dale of White Heath; Dareld of Decatur; Harold of Tucson AZ; Raymond and John of Monticello; and Thomas of Cisco; four daughters: Phyllis Beccue, Mt Pulaski; Barbara Jones of Bondville; Carolyn Butler of Monticello; and Marilyn Barnett, White Heath; 30 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Burke was a self-employed laborer. Memorials may be made to Hamm-Burke American Legion Post 101 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
