Helen Burke, 72, of Monticello died October 2, 1990 at Kirby Hospital, Monticello. Funeral services were held October 4 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with burial in Monticello Cemetery.

Mrs. Burke was born September 13, 1918 at Oakford, d/o Dennis L. and Mabel Ogden Thomas. She married Walter C. Burke (1901-1991) in 1944. Survivors include four sons: James D. Fleming, St Augustine FL; Raymond Burke and Jon Burke, both of Monticello; and Tom Burke of Cisco; five daughters: Mary A. Coons, Virginia Beach Va; Phyllis Beccue, Mt. Pulaski; Barbara Jones, Bondville; Marilyn Barnett, White Heath and Carolyn Butler, Monticello; three stepsons: Darold Burke, Decatur; Harold Burke, Tucson AZ; and Dale Burke, White heath; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Opal Harig of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter and one brother.

Mrs. Burke was a member of First United Methodist Church and Hamm-Burke American Legion Auxiliary. She was a Gold Star Mother. She was a housekeeper at Kirby Hospital, Monticello.
