A retired foreman with Grady Crawford Construction Co., he died at 3 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 82, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Sikes. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until religious service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Bruce Worrell and the Rev. Norris Curry. Interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Edna Shipp Brister; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca Brister Aiton and U.S. Army Maj. Steve Aiton; two sisters, Freda White and Ellon June Kennedy; three grandchildren, Megan, Matthew and Ryan Aiton; stepdaughter, Patricia Wheeler and husband Cloyce; two stepsons, Marlon Fisher and wife Lisa and Doug Fisher and wife Sandy; stepgrandchildren, Lisa Kelleher, Jody Wheeler, Ashley Credeur and Angie, Danny, Stevie, Timmy and Missy Fisher; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Brister and Bertha Curry Brister; sisters, Eloise Strickland, Grace Johnson, Louise Yelverton, Christine Nettles and Hilda Shipp; and brother, Huey Brister. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Central.
