On 14 December 1908 he was united in marriage to Edith May Lilly. They were the kind and loving parents of six children: Mrs. Evelyn Davenport, Mrs. Marguerite LacKamp, Mrs. Vernabel Sperling, Mrs. Cleta Friesen all of this community, Mrs. Dorothy Clark of Lyons, Kansas and Staff Stt. Willard Mason Blessing Jr. of El Paso, Texas. They shared joys and sorrows together for 41 years.
In 1918 the family moved to Inman. It was in this year that Willard became a rural mail carrier on Route 3 and was still faithfully continuing his duties on the day he passed away.
Willard and his wife found great joy in their eight grandchildren: Donna and Buddy Davenport; Dennis, Bobby and Cynthia Sperling; Edith Joan and Randy Friesen; and Robert Jon Lac Kamp.
The family suffered a great sorrow on November 25, 1949 when Edith suddenly passed away after suffering a heart attack. Willard was truly a farmer at heart and found much consolation in working on his farm. It was while he was driving to his farm, the afternoon of June 7th 1952 that his car was struck by another car and he passed away instantly. It was God's will that he did not suffer.
Willard leaves to mourn his sudden departure, his five daughters and one son, eight grandchildren, five sons-in-law, one daugther-in-law; one brother, Ross of West Palm Beach, Florida; Two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Holman and Mrs. Marguerite Sheffer, of Santa Maria, California and many relatives and friends.
