Evelyn Juanita Davenport, the daughter of Edith Mae Lilly Blessing and Willard Mason Blessing was born in Roswell, New Mexico on June 13, 1910. She has four sisters. They are Madge LacKamp, Verna Sperling, Cleta Friesen and Dorothy Clark. One brother Willard Mason Blessing, Jr. preceded her in death.
Evelyn married Ray Davenport on October 8, 1934. Ray passed away in 1982 after 47 years of marriage. They have two children Donna and her husband Paul Netters and Ray Jr. and his wife Opal Davenport. She has been blessed with five grandchildren- Patricia Jenkins, Mike Schroeder, Vicki Johnson, Debbie Friesen, and Bill Davenport. There are ten great-grandchildren- Brandy Jenkins, Ami Talbot, Justin and Jake Schroeder, Alexis and Austin Johnson, Jesse and Eric Friesen, Megan and Seth Davenport. There are also three great-great grandchildren- Wyatt Dudley, Tanner and Brianna Talbot. Evelyn worked with her husband for several years running a restaurant and grocery store.
She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, St. Peter's Women's Fellowship, the Mayflower Society and an Honorary Member of the Bluebirds. She enjoyed bird watching, crocheting, knitting, and leather work. She lovingly and generously shared all her creative work with family and friends.
