Findagrave doesn't recognize where Grandma was born. She was born at Gross Zirkwitz, West Prussia/Germany. She immigrated with her mother Catherine and 4 siblings in 1883, first to New York where they did piece work for a garment factory to earn enough to travel onto Minnesota and meet up with Grandma's father, Martin Schmidt, and her Grandfather George Schmidt. Also, her maternal Grandmother was in Minnesota, Maria (Wollschlaeger) (Behnke was fist spouse) Warmke. Grandma was an outstanding seamstress/tailor and made her own clothes and had worked for the Oregon City Woolen Mills.
