Christian (Chris) Olsen Goplen was born in Lille Goplen, Nord Torpa, Nordre Land, Oppland Co., Norway. His parents were Ole Gulbrandsen Goplen and Ingeborg Olsdtr. Vold who were born in Valdres Norway.
Chris emigrated to Akan Township Richland Co., WI in October 1885 and purchased a small parcel of land in sec 16 and started farming. Later fish farming and raising goats.
He went back to Norway in 1892 and bought back his future wife Oline H. Sveen and they were married Feb 16, 1893 in the South Blue River Evangelical Norwegian Church.
They had 9 children.
