Mrs. Harriett Ellen Stilwell, widow of E. C. Stilwell, died at 11:50 yesterday morning at the home of her son, J. F. Stilwell, 1502 North Allen street, following an illness lasting about a year, her age having been 81 years.
Mrs. Stilwell, who was Miss Harriett Conder, was a native of Union county, but had been living in this city for many years. Her husband died here two years ago.
Several children survive, including H. A. and J. F. Stilwell and Mrs. W. H. Benfield, of this city, L. J. and W. H. Stilwell, of this county, Mrs. D. B. Swaringer, of Carthage, and G. F. Stilwell, of Salisbury. Two sisters, Mrs. George Davis and Mrs. William Kluttz, of Matthews, also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock this morning at Belmont Park Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, Rev. W. B. Davis. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.
