Funeral services were held July 7, 1984 for Berniece K. Roberts, 72, at the Afton LDS Fourth Ward Chapel. She died at her home on July 5, 1984 after a prolonged illness. Bishop Gale Haderlie officiated at the service. Burial was in the Afton cemetery.
Berniece was born in Thatcher Arizona, a twin daughter of George Kennington and Ada Caroline Kimball, on April 3, 1912. At the age of nine days, her mother died, so she was cared for by her maternal grandparents until the age of four months, when the twins were returned to their father in Star Valley and their aunts, Molly Lowe and Ida Jensen cared for them. After their father's second marriage to Martha Weber, the twins became members of a family which grew to include eleven brothers and sisters.
Berniece graduated from Star Valley High School, then continued her education to become a teacher for a total of 31 years, during this time she touched many lives. June 1, 1933 she married Arthur H. Roberts in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They have made their home in Afton except for the eleven years they lived in Roy, Utah. She and her husband are member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served an LDS mission in the Las Vegas, Nevada field. She actively served in church and civic activities always holding at least one church assignment.
She is survived by her husband and three children, Bruce Roberts of Byron, Wyo. Marie Wilkes of Afton and Carolyn Robinson of Ogden Utah; five brothers, Garth Kennington of Laramie, Gordon Kennington of Ocean Side Calif., Forrest Kennington of Afton, Craig Kennington of American Fork Utah and gene Kennington of Brigham City, Utah; four sisters Clarissa Merritt of Afton, Gwen Ray of Fontana Calif., Audine Stafford of Syracuse, Utah and Ruth Kennington of Salt Lake City.
She was preceded in death by two sister and one brother.
